EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

The idea of the "Empowerment" project was born and then developed in the years 1998 – 99 and 2000 as a consequence of the entrance of "Worldwide Communication" in the MotorcycleRacing World Championship. Our company has always acted in the minor classes (125 and 250) but above all in the entrance class, i.e. 125cc.

For this reason we have always got in touch with very young and inexperienced Pilots. Often wealso had to face problems related to their growth and the transition from adolescence to adult age, which is one of the trickiest moment in a person’s life and above all in an athlete's life.

The programme has been more and more developed and enriched during the years thanks to the experience and results we gained. Today it can be considered as a great help to a Pilot who wants to try this fascinating and at the same time very difficult career.

The general purpose of the "Empowerment" programme can be basically summarized in the following points:

  • It aims to highlight young Pilots' qualities and talent;

  • It wants to create the best condition for Pilots both from a physical and from a psychological/environmental point of view, so that they can express their talent in the best way;

  • It aims to help young Pilots to manage the first phase of their career, which often occurs in avery tricky moment of their growth both as Pilots and as people; we have to remember that most of them are teenagers.

The "Empowerment" project consists of 2 essential phases:

1. the "Winter Training" phase, which is a nonstop one and it usually lasts from December to March;

2. the "Maintainance Training" phase during Pilots' free time among the different Grand Prix.

The programme is effective in general but, after a selective/cognitive test of 2/3 days, it is
adapted and personalized for every single Pilot. In this way it can be immediately effective and
targeted for their needs and personal characteristics.

There are many activities in the programme:

  • indoor physical activities to strengthen the Pilots’ physical structure (if needed) and increase their reactivity, balance and mental lucidity under stress. These activities take place above all in gym, swimming pool, squash fields or other structures according to the circumstances;

  • outdoor physical activities such as for example mountain bike, racing bike, skates, activities on the beach and on uneven grounds with the same above mentioned aims;

  • motorbike activities: motocross, supermoto and tests on racing motorcycles on tracks.
    These activities are supervised by professionals that have worked in this field for years;

  • supporting activities: psychological counselling, mental training, strategies studying and development, self control, etc. are just some of the many supporting activities that our
    consultants carry out.

All the above mentioned activities, as said before, are in general effective but we personalize them with methods and operational protocols that we adjusted according to the experience and results that we gained during many years of activity in this field.

The programme, above all the winter training, is very demanding and the Pilots have to train
more or less 6 days a week. During this phase they have to manage the living together with the
colleagues and better their ability to run social relationships.

The programme does not take place in a permanent preconcerted region but in different ones
according to climate conditions and technical needs. Usually it takes place in Italy, Spain and
Switzerland in high professional level facilities.

In the sporting year 2010 the Pilots that are going to take part in this project are Jonas Folger,
Sturla Fagheraug, Luca Marconi and Khairuddin Muhammad Zulfahmi (a Malay Pilot who is going
to make his debut in the Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing).
